Daily Area Rug Care

Area rugs, despite being somewhat vulnerable to spills and stains, are actually quite easy to care for and maintain. By setting up a care & maintenance routine for your area rug, or any other type of flooring, you can help to stave off the wear and tear that comes with time and ensure that your area rug continues to age well.

Daily area rug care revolves around vacuuming. By investing in a quality vacuum and putting it to use on a regular basis, you are actively helping to remove dirt and other debris that can harm your rug's fibers and create a grungy look. How often you need to vacuum will depend on the amount of foot traffic within the room in question, but plan on doing so every couple of days.

Of course, it's also good to encourage guests to remove their shoes before walking on your area rug.

Dealing With Spills & Stains

For area rugs, the best defense against spills and stains is a good offense! And by that, we mean being prepared in the event that an accident takes place. When and if a mess occurs, address it immediately to avoid lingering damage to your area rug. The longer you wait, the more likely it is that the fibers of your area rug will get damaged. The first step is always to absorb the mess up with a clean towel. From there, you can blot out the mess with cold water. For difficult-to-handle messes, consult your manufacturer.
